Nutrition is Huge when it comes to Performance. As an athlete or everyday exerciser, we Need to EAT! I'm constantly telling my clients that after we workout, our "shelves are Empty". We need to restock them with healthy Proteins, Carbohydrates and Fats. We refer to these as Macronutrients.
What do we eat though Amber?
I like to KEEP IT SIMPLE. If you can place food out on the counter for 3-5 days and it goes bad, then We eat that food! Anything in a bright, loud package typically isn't Natural and is full of preservatives, in which we Choose Not to eat on a regular basis.
A good Rule is: Stay to the perimeter of the grocery store, where foods need to be refrigerated or kept cool because they are fresh.
Grocery shop every few days to buy the most fresh fruits and vegetables if possible. Eat lean meats for good sources of protein. Add in Lentils and beans for a variety as well.
I could talk about nutrition for a long time, but at the end of the day, Most of us Know what is Healthy/Natural vs processed/man made!
Enjoy Holidays and visiting with friends, endulge the odd time. But try and keep your healthy nutrition to be approximately 85% of your foods you eat/drink and 15% can be "The NOT SO HEALTHY" foods. My typical cheat foods are Sushi, pizza, candy and maybe some alcohol at times! I workout to eat and then eat to workout.
All said, Don't complicate Nutrition so Much. Keep it Simple and you'll see great results!
